Blogger Robert Alai has slammed US-based Law scholar Prof Makau Mutua after revealing that he will be making a comeback to Daily Nation as a columnist.
In a tweet on Tuesday, Alai noted that by returning to a media house he ditched over lack of editorial independence, Prof Mutua looked desperate.
"There is no change in editorial policy at NMG. I wonder what made you see the sense to bow to them? Makes you seem desperate to be on the platform. You need to have a strong stand," said Alai in the tweet.
Makau had in a tweet revealed that he would be making a come back to the Nation Media Group's Sunday Nation.
The renowned lawyer last featured as a columnist in the newspaper four years ago.
"I am pleased to return to @dailynation this Sunday as a columnist. I do so confident that with an NMG editorial leadership committed to a free and independent press we will keep the embers of democracy burning. Let's provoke, educate, inform, and entertain," he tweeted.
After he stopped writing for Sunday Nation back in 2014, Prof Mutua joined Standard Media Group where he has been publishing his articles.
It is believed that Mutua who has been critical of the Jubilee government stopped writing for the Nation Media Group for lack of editorial independence.
