Deputy President William Ruto has asked Jubilee leaders to desist from dividing the party along Kieleweke and Tanga Tanga, arguing that Kenyans are interested in development.
For the last couple of months, Jubilee party has struggled to forge unity, with two factions emerging. While Tanga Tanga supports Ruto, Kieleweke team backs President Uhuru Kenyatta.
On Sunday in Murang'a, Ruto said Jubilee party is united under the president, adding that party members should desist henceforth from creating more divisions.
According to him, the country's leadership brought opposition leader Raila Odinga on board to help foster unity ahead of 2022 polls.
“The only way we can change this country is to focus on working on development projects, all this political talk and factions emerging will not help this country,” he said.
“I want to ask Jubilee leaders to stop forming political factions to fight each other because this is dividing the party. We have one leader in President Kenyatta and one agenda,”he said.
The DP insisted that there was no split in the party and that it was still united under a common goal of development.
“My tour in the countryside is to ensure government projects are completed without fail as part of government agenda to transform the nation,” said Ruto.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has previously warned about early campaigns, arguing that leaders should first concentrate on supporting development.
