President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday revisited circumstances that led to nullification of his victory, arguing that he's a peace loving Kenyan.
Speaking at Ngong town, Uhuru said peace, unity and stability are the only virtues which can enable a government to deliver development to people.
According to Uhuru, he never felt agitated when ODM leader Raila Odinga opposed his victory and subsequent nullification of the outcome by Supreme Court under Chief Justice David Maraga.
For the sake on unity, Uhuru said, he had to reach out to Mr Odinga for Handshake, a move which he said has given his government enabling environment to perform.
"When my brother (Raila) contested the outcome and the one in court (Maraga) said we go back to polls, I surrendered to them and agreed. Even after the rerun, I said I was ready for the handshake," he said.
"We started working together. Without peace, unity and stability, no development can ever take place. We have seen troubles. Politicians inciting people to fight. We are not ready to that route," added Uhuru.
Before that, Uhuru also hailed his government's massive strides towards improving infrastructure, revealing details of his Tuesday's secret trip to Kisumu.
"Our people in Kisumu, they (some people) were saying that its scrap (MV Uhuru), I was there yesterday and I saw with my own eyes, the ship they were saying was scrap is working.
"It went to Kampala and back. It took some goods and returned it to Kenya. The work wasn't done by foreigners, it was done by our fellow African," he said.
A jovial Uhuru was on Tuesday received by port officials and inspection committee led by Kisumu East Deputy County Commissioner Josephine Ouko.
“First, he went straight to board MV Uhuru vessel that has been on a test run. He then toured the port facility and finally retreated to Kisumu Yacht Club,” said a security official who was at the port.
