For the better part of this year, Kirubi has been battling with cancer in the United States of America and was just released few months ago.

And on Monday, the two old friends met for the first time with Uhuru looking jovial as they exchanged warmly in the company of other leaders.

"I met my old time friend @UKenyatta today @BlueEconomyKe conference. This new frontier will help develop the economy & enable us take advantage of our water resources in a sustainable way. #BlueEconomyKe #AskKirubi 📸 @muokimoss."https://twitter.com/CKirubi/status/1067014752013090817?s=19.

Mr Kirubi, a respected private sector entrepreneur, has been recuperating at his Mombasa home, rarely making any public appearance.

On Tuesday, Kirubi backed the country to invest in agriculture and agribusiness, insisting that the future will be determined by the input in the sector.

"Agriculture is the present and future! We must create an environment that promotes development of small farming communities because this will create high value agriculture projects that benefit small farmers and enable them to trade on a global platform. #BlueEconomyKe #AskKirubi."https://twitter.com/CKirubi/status/1067353898430722048?s=19.

Behind the scenes, Kirubi is said to be one of serious power brokers who plays key role in presidential elections.
