Controversial City lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has slammed Chief Justice David Maraga for his recent remarks of helping the president to eliminate corruption that has become rampant in the country.
Through his vocal Twitter account, lawyer Ahmednasir accused CJ Maraga of taking sides in the war against graft, maintaining that the judiciary should act with impartiality when it comes dealing with corruption suspects.
“CJ Maraga is totally out order. It is not the function of the judiciary to help the accuser or the accused. Its constitutional mandate is to arbiter impartially, as per the law,” he tweeted.
The Chief Justice on Saturday vowed that they will do anything possible within their mandate to support the war on corruption. He assured the President of judicial support to deal with corruption.
Mr Maraga further said that the Judiciary will give priority to corruption cases to ensure all suspects are prosecuted and judged according to the law. He urged the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to bring on board concrete evidence.
Numerous questions have been raised on the state of the judiciary in recent weeks as far as the fight against graft was concerned.
There was a general feeling that the judiciary was crippling the war against graft, although the court eventually allowed for fresh vetting of the officers.
