For the very first time since the last elections, Daadab member of parliament Mohammed Dahiye has openly embraced a golden handshake with his biggest political rival Abdikadir Abdullahi.

The duo who met and agreed to work together on Saturday disclosed that the deal was necessitated by their desire to see new developments in their constituency.

Speaking after the handshake deal, Abdikadir revealed that they have collectively agreed to shun their differences for the sake of the electorate who deserve better service delivery.

"After the withdrawal of my election petition at the Court of Appeal, today it was a great moment to be part of my family meeting, in the quest of healing the divisions that occurred in 2017 August elections and embracing the handshake. I have affirmed to the unity pact, as we all harness our differences and chart a new path of brotherhood, unity and prosperity for our people," said Abdikadir.

The unity deal came after talks spearheaded by Abdikadir's uncle Hon Abdikadir Tolley, Ugas Abdikadir Beylah, Minister Mohamed Ibrahim, Chairman Amin Bossey, Ahmed Abdi, Mohamed Hanshi and Ali Aden.
