For any leader eyeing the presidency in the past, they put this region very close to his chest because it is has been a key shaper in who ascends to the presidency.

It is against this backdrop that Deputy President William Ruto has made inroads in Kiambu County – one of the densely populated areas in this region.

In past trails to the county, it is evidently clear that his political charm has gotten to the electorate of this region and even beyond.

The crowd he gets in his rallies particularly in Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Laikipia and other sister counties within Central Kenya speaks volumes.

Besides, he has very able and energetic lieutenants among them Kikuyu legislator Kimani Ichung’wa and Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu among others.

Ichung’wa together with Waititu have in the recent past exuded confidence in rallying their constituents to support DP’s presidential bid in 2022.

The Kikuyu lawmaker is considered one of Ruto’s fiercest ally as he does not hold back from answering the naysayers while Waititu’s abrasive nature has not spared those opposed to Ruto’s presidency either.

The DP also has inherent attributes that have in the past enchanted Kiambu residents, a section of whom have now become his diehard supporters.

Should the momentum continue, the DP will have a solid support base in 2022 in Kiambu and beyond.
