Uasin Gishu County Governor Jackson Mandago has made a passionate appeal to his former opponent in the 2017 gubernatorial election Zedekiah Kiprop Bundotich alias Buzeki.
Speaking on Saturday at Burnt Forest, the county boss called on Buzeki to support the Deputy President Dr William Ruto's presidential bid in 2022.
Mandago's said he respected the renowned businessman's decision to bail out of the governing Jubilee party and join Chama Cha Mashinani led by former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto.
"I respect your decision to join CCM but going forward, I want to ask one thing of you. When it comes to the presidential election, kindly support William Ruto because Ruto is a tough politician, " the Uasin Gishu governor said.
Buzeki ditched Jubilee, citing being shortchanged by the party's in 2017 as the basis of his decision.
The businessman lost narrowly to Mandago in the Jubilee Party nomination contest, a loss which made him run as an independent candidate.
He is widely expected to gun for the governorship in the 2022 elections as Mandago will have finished his two-term tenure as stipulated in the constitution.
Buzeki has not come out clearly as to who he will support in the presidential election come 2022.
