Robert Njoroge, a resident in the county, has accused the governor of grabbing his 5-acre piece of land at Kamae Kinari in Kiambu.

The county government is reported to be in the process of constructing a market in the said piece of land.

Addressing journalists on Thursday, Njoroge said he had obtained a court order preventing the county from further development on the land.

He, however, criticised Waititu for ignoring the order saying construction works on the site are still ongoing.

“The governor wants to construct a market here yet neither he nor the county government has asked for my permission. I have the title deed and I’m wondering how a piece of land could have two titles because the county government is also claiming ownership of the land,” said Njoroge.

“There must be a mistake somewhere but all I know is that this land belongs to me. I was left with no option but to go to court,” he added.

Residents have raised concerns over increased land grabbing, a situation that has been blamed on the various development projects being implemented in the area. They now want the National Lands Commission (NLC) and the Ministry of Lands to intervene by offering title deeds to genuine landowners.

Last year, the Environment and Lands Court barred the Kiambu County government from taking over a three-quarter acre piece of land belonging to the Postal Corporation of Kenya.

Waititu is reported to have ordered an invasion in the Sh100 piece of land located in Kiambu town, to pave way for the expansion of a bus park.
