Speaking during evening iftar dinner at his Garissa home, Korane stated that he had set aside at least Sh100 million in each county for development.

This, he said, was to break from the traditional system where funds were given to departments.

The governor was responding to complains from Members of County Assembly (MCAs) whose areas of jurisdiction were yet to receive development funds from the county.

"I have received several complaints from MCAs whose wards are yet to benefit from the county kitty and we need a system that will address this inequality," Karone said as quoted by the County Press Unit.

Amid the developments, the governor further assured the MCAs that they would automatically be enrolled to the decision-making team as proposed during the just concluded public participation forums.

The latest initiative of devolving funds to sub-counties is the first ever of its kind, a thing that envisaged to spur the necessary development.

In any event, MCAs will now be directly involved in development projects in their respective wards. Furthermore, the ward chiefs will personally be held unanswerable for all stalled projects within their areas of operation.
