Grief engulfed Erera village in Kisii County after a 41-year-old man was found murdered in his house on Tuesday.
Area chief George Nyamwaka confirmed the incident.
He said the deceased Thomas Makori Momanyi hailed from Nyaribari Masaba and has been living in a rental house in the area.
The chief said neighbours who discovered the body said the deceased has been having an affair with a married woman who lives with her husband at the same rental houses.
"Locals revealed that the deceased has been warned several times to stop chasing a married woman but he could not listen. Until on Monday night, unknown people murdered him in his house," said Nyamwaka.
According to the chief, the body of the deceased had injuries on the neck and head, a clear indication that he was strangled to death.
"The woman the deceased has been having an affair with her husband has since gone into hiding and this has made locals suspect that the couple might have planned Makori's killing," he stated.
The body was moved to Christamarriane hospital morgue as police launch investigations into the incident.
