Interior CS Fred Matiang’i has condemned Tuesday's protest along Kisii-Keroka road after motorists and locals took to the streets over hiked fuel prices.
According to Matiang’i, the hike in fuel prices doesn’t mean people should protest to block roads.
“I am condemning the protests that were held on Tuesday along the Kisii-Keroka road where motorists and members of the public blocked roads over fuel prices.
"Kenyans should give the president humble time to address the 16 per cent fuel prices and not by holding unlawful protests,” he said.
He directed police officers to be vigilant and ensure whoever participates in illegal protests is arrested to face prosecution.
Matiang’i warned local leaders against taking advantage of the hiked fuel prices to spread propaganda about the government.
“Locals leaders should be part of those people finding solutions to the problems facing us.Whoever who will be caught must be ready to carry his or her own cross,” he added.
