Rangwe Member of Parliament Lilian Gogo has faulted her Suba South counterpart John Mbadi over his new amendment seeking to regulate fundraiser contributions.
Mbadi has proposed that capping of contributions by state officials at Sh100, 000, a proposal Gogo on Monday rubbished the plans, terming them dangerous to development.
Speaking in her constituency, the MP said that the nation has for long depended on harambees to boost initiatives, adding that not restrictions should be established on fundraisers.
"The restriction will be a serious obstacle to fundraisers hence it is against the development agenda we desire as a country,” the MP was quoted by the Standard.
The MP said that the tact will not be of any help in the fight against corruption as it will kill the harambee spirit, further detecting some secret intentions in it.
Gogo detected that the restriction could end up being used by the same people pushing for its establishment to avoid contributing, resulting in a slower development pace.
“Another worry is that some leaders may take advantage of the restriction to avoid participating actively in contributing for development projects in villages,” she added.
This becomes the second time Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) members are disagreeing on matters of national importance, days after the new note rollout issue.
This was before the disagreeing members of the party agreed to wholly back the introduction of the new notes, on grounds that they contain founding father Mzee Jomo Kenyatta's face.
