Kisii county deputy governor Joash Maangi joined the Chief Administrative Secretary, Ministry of Public Service Youth and Gender Affairs Rachael Shebesh, the Kisii County Member of Parliament Janet Ongera among other government officers on Thursday, during the distribution of cheques to beneficiaries of the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) and the Huduma Mashinani.

In the event, over 300 women groups benefited from the disbursement. Maangi commended the exercise saying it will go along way in helping a big number of women in the community and he also reaffirmed the county's commitment in championing the initiative.

"The fund has transformed lives of Women, Youth and Persons living with Disabilities (PLWDs) nationwide by reducing poverty and inequality through enhanced access to financial facilities," said Maangi.

"The Kisii County Government has been in the forefront in championing affairs affecting Women, Youth and PLWDs. The county has enacted the Kisii Youth and Women Fund Act, 2016 that will see the establishment of a unit dedicated to Women and Youth. The unit shall be headed by a fund manager tasked with providing technical, financial and legal expertise to the beneficiaries," he added.
