The handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, some pundits argue, was orchestrated to lock DP Ruto out of 2022 presidential race.
On the other hand, others say Raila Odinga is being tricked to make it look like Ruto is out of the equation when in reality he is not.
According to renowned political analyst Harman Manyora, through his weekly Youtube address "Take it or leave it," Raila can use the betrayal card to occasion their (Uhuru and Ruto) downfall incase Uhuru is playing him with his deputy.
"All that he(Raila) will need to do is to say he is not going for Presidency," said the analyst.
According to Professor Manyora, if Raila endorses another candidate other than himself it will be unlikely for Uhuru and Ruto to win.
"An endorsement for Musalia Mudavadi and Kalonzo Musyoka, together with other Kenyans in an expanded executive, my friend Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto, you cannot manage that," added the analyst.
He went on to explain the expanded executive can include the likes of Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho, Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula among others.
"So long as Raila is not standing, it will generate the kind of excitement in the country (that would be difficult for UhuRuto to beat," posits Manyora.
The analyst also added the technological sophistication will ensure no one will rig the elections and that may work for Raila.
