The latter has been in deep trouble since the March 9 truce between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga, one that marked the start of his woes.

On Tuesday, he came face to face with another apparent technique to finish him before his 2022 presidential bid, an offensive surprisingly undertaken by his boss.

Uhuru picked Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi as the chief minister and the prefect to the entire cabinet, meaning that all CSs will be reporting to him on development projects.

In turn, Matiangi will be reporting to Uhuru, leaving out the DP who until lately has been crisscrossing the nation under the excuse of supervising government development initiatives.

This means that Ruto will no longer have a reason to go round the nation as has been his routine, denying him the opportunity to publicize himself ahead of 2022.

Apart from the seeming attempt to cut Ruto's feet ahead of time, Uhuru also seems to have gotten serious on his bid to realize his development agenda for the nation.

This is with regards to the fact that Matiangi has set record for performing in whatever capacity he has been deployed.

Also, the same will deny Ruto's allies the opportunity to engage in constant politicking as they have been doing, hiving Kenyans a chance to concentrate on beneficial issues.

But in the real sense, the CS too could benefit politically for the same as he has been elevated and adding that to good performance could easily hand him a political seat if he were to vie.

Should he do a good job, then he will have overshadowed the DP and could easily beat him in the 2022 presidential race, if he (Matiang'i) has such ambitions.
