Odinga was among contestants in the race but lost to the Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto in a contest that later ended up at the Supreme Court. Uhuru won the petition.

Speaking on Radio Jambo Thursday evening, the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) parliamentarian, however, said that Raila rejected his advice, brushing him off instead.

‘’Nilimwambia Raila lazima ajiunge na Uhuru lakini akasema yeye hawezi kufanya hivyo (I told Raila to join forces with Uhuru but he told me that he cannot do such a thing),’’ said Aburi who is a former ODM MP.

He added that Raila’s pride landed him in trouble, with a repeat happening in the concluded election period where Uhuru again, beat Raila before the veteran politician snubbed repeat polls held on October 26, 2017.

‘’Nilimwambia Uhuru anaweza na sasa ni yeye anateremsha kichwa akimsalimu Rais (I told him Uhuru was capable and now he has confirmed it),’’ added Aburi.

Aburi has since crossed over and has also even declared support for Ruto's 2022 bid to succeed Uhuru.
