A 71-year-old woman is nursing serious injuries after her daughters-in-law attacked her on suspicion that she is a witch.
This happened on Sunday at Bonyamwoni village in South Mugirango, Kisii County.
The aged woman said her son’s 2 wives raided her home on Thursday morning and attacked her with rungus claiming that she is a witch.
“I have never practiced witchcraft before. I don’t know why my son’s wives decided to attack me instead they could have reported me to authorities or the church,” she said.
Th wives, Bosibori and Nyaera said their mother-in-law has in several occasions attempted to drive them into her witchcraft dealings.
“She has tried to convince us to join her at night but we declined. We reported her to area Nyumba Kumi officials but she bribed them. We attacked her so that residents can know she is a witch woman,” said Nyaera.
Barongo accused her aged mother of practicing witchcraft yet she is a staunch Christian.
Area assistant chief Fred Okindo said the woman sustained serious injuries during the attack and she is currently being treated at Tabaka hospital.
Okindo said investigations have been launched to establish the truth.
