Political analyst Mark Bichachi has questioned the release of Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on bail, after he was accused of misappropriating millions of county funds.
The governor, who is also facing charges of assaulting a police officer during his arrest in Voi over a week ago, was on Wednesday released on bail, but barred from accessing his office.
Speaking on Sunday, the commentator said Sonko's release doesn't add up, given that he has failed almost all the required qualifications for one to secure a court bail.
"If Sonko got bail, a known flight risk allegedly caught on his way running away, resisting arrest, his honchos being arrested trying to bribe people so that they can demonstrate, surely, what are we trying to tell this nation?" he said during KTN's Inside Politics show on Sunday.
He pointed out that Jubilee Party's decision to hand Sonko it's nomination certificate, despite knowing his leadership credentials, makes it partially a villain in the current crisis.
"The biggest problem we have with this Sonko thing is how many people have aided and abetted the process of us being blessed with the govern-ship that is Sonko, that responsibility falls on Jubilee," he added.
