A 23-year-old man committed suicide in Katumbi village, Masinga sub-county in Machakos county.
The body of the KCSE candidate at Kituneni Secondary school was discovered by members of the public dangling from a tree in a thicker near their home on Monday evening.
The incident was confirmed by Masinga sub-county police commander Francis Siror who spoke to Hivisasa on phone.
Siror said that according to the family the candidate left home on Sunday afternoon not to be seen again.
The family said that the reason why the man decided to take his life is still a mystery.
" No one has a clue why the man decided to kill himself since he left no suicide note. The family also is in the dark as to why he decided to hang himself," said Siror.
Siror lamented that cases of suicide were slowly crawling back in the region.
He urged residents to ensure communication among family members to avert such cases.
He pleaded with parents to always find time for their kids who may be mentally disturbed.
"Let parents talk to their kids there may be issues that don't seem serious only for them to bring about cases like suicide," he said.
His body was picked by police and taken to Yatta funeral home for preservation.
