According to Mr Ogolla, Robert Alai got it all wrong by ethically and morally by going ahead to publish the grisly images.

The lawyer, however, faulted the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for arresting Alai.

He branded Alai's arrest dramatic, excessive and smacking of raw power, saying it was aimed at acting as a deterrent to those who may have intentions of publishing similar images.

"IN TERMS of moral ethical responsibility, Alai got it wrong. But his dramatic arrest is equally excessive &smacks of raw power.

"In the end, Alai's arrest serves a collateral purpose, i.e. "Ili iwe funzo" as opposed to a legitimate need to protect the dignity of gallant officers," Steve Ogolla's tweet read.

Alai had been warned by the police against sharing the photos on his social media feeds but he defied the warning leading to his arrest.

Kenyans on social media platforms have been weighing in on the arrest with a section calling for his arrest.

Alai has had many run-ins with law enforcement authorities over some of the posts he has  made on his social media feeds.
