The Saturday accident involved a 14-seater matatu and a lorry along Kangundo road.

According to Matungulu sub-county police commander Samuel Mukuusi, the passenger matatu was moving to Tala town from Nairobi when the incident occurred.

Muukusi said the matatu rammed into the lorry at Mobena area, a few metres from Joska shopping centre.

He said the driver of the matatu tried to overtake other vehicles before ramming into the lorry.

"The lorry was headed to Nairobi from Kware, while the matatu was moving to Tala. On reaching the scene, the matatu driver tried to overtake a fleet of vehicles before his vehicle rammed into the lorry," Mukuusi said.

Mukuusi said one person died on the spot while the other succumbed on his way to the hospital.

He spoke to this writer on the phone on Saturday.

The injured were rushed to Nguluni dispensary and Kangundo Level 4 Hospital for treatment.

Witnesses who spoke to this writer called for the erection of speed bumps in the area to avert accidents.

"In a span of one month, three people have lost their lives through accidents in this area. There's the need for bumps in the area to curb accidents," said a resident who sought anonymity.
