Grief stricken a family from Kuride in Makueni County when burial plans for one of their loved ones hit a snag following mortuary drama.
This is after his body went missing from Makueni Pamoja Funeral Home where it had been preserved.
Ndeti Mwilu passed on on Thursday and the body was taken to the said mortuary.
However, when the family came came on Saturday morning to pick their father for burial, his body was nowhere to be found.
Simon Kyalo Ndeti, son to the deceased told the press that they have been coming to view the body of their father but we're shocked to find his body missing on the burial date.
"The last time we were here was on Wednesday and our father's body was here, today we were shocked because the body we were being offered didn't belong to our father, "said Ndeti.
Ndeti said that the management tried to insist that the body given to the family is indeed their father.
He said that after a series of consultations, they discovered that the body of their father was buried on Thursday by a family from Kithuki in Kathonzweni.
"We found a document showing the release of our father's body onThursday to a family in Kithuki for burial, "he narrated.
He asserted that the family will follow the needed procedure to ensure the body of their father is retrieved and buried in his actual home.
"We can't exhume his body without a court order, we will follow the due procedure and ensure we get back our father's body, "he said.
Justina Ndeti, the deceased's widow said that burial preparations had been finalised until things went haywire.
"The family and neighbours were ready for the burial but we have no choice but to reschedule,"she said.
The management of the morgue accepted that there was a mistake and promises to cooperate with the family to ensure they get back 'their' body.
"The two bodies are identical in picture reason why their was a misunderstanding,"said Francis Mutisya, director of Makueni pamoja funeral home.
