Abagusii community will benefit more in future if it's members remain solidly on the Orange Democratic Movement party, former Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire has said.
Speaking at Embakasi South constituency on Thursday, Bosire who rallied the community to back ODM candidate for April 5th by-election Irshad Sumra, said Mr Raila Odinga has remained truthful in his relationship with the community.
"I have worked with Raila for 18 years. We were in LDP, ODM, CORD, NASA and now back in our ODM. He's a truthful man and holds no grudge. His humility and compassion is overwhelming. For now, let's support the handshake," he said.
The ODM treasurer warned that the Kisii community in Nairobi will remain sidelined if it's members fail to work together. According to him, the ODM leader calculated well by chosing to work with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
And Mr Bosire added that should the community continue working with ODM, Raila Odinga could pick him or any other competent person as finance minister should he take over in 2022.
"When mzee (Raila) manages to get it (presidency), then don't be surprised if am appointed finance minister. I can do the job well," said Bosire amid excitements from the audience.
Also tipped to be among favorites to take over from Governor John Nyagarama, Mr Bosire is a trained economist and worked at National Treasury before quitting to form his own business empire.
He said that should Sumra take over in April, he will support a candidate from Abagusii community in 2022 elections at the cosmopolitan constituency in Nairobi County.
Present at the event were Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, party Executive Director Oduor Ongweng among others. Campaigns are set to end early next week.
