A prominent Kiambu politician has scorned off plans by former area governor William Kabogo to vie for the presidency in the 2022 general election.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV's JKL show on Wednesday night, Kabogo said he was determined to be in the next government either in the position of head of state or deputy president.
"I may not run as Kabogo but as a group of like-minded individuals who mean well for this country. I may go for the presidency or be someone's running mate," he said.
When asked by his host, Jeff Koinange, whether he had confidence in defeating Deputy President William Ruto, Kabogo replied: "No one has monopoly of candidacy. That seat will be available to all Kenyans in 2022 and it has no one's name."
However, reacting to the interview, Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung'wa scorned off Kabogo's ambitions saying in case he manages to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta the country would be 'doomed'.
"Kenya is doomed if it’s to be taken to the next level by kabogo!" the vocal MP posted on his official Twitter account.
Ichung'wa has always been a fierce critic of Kabogo since his tenure as Kiambu county chief.
At one time Kabogo referred to the MP as a 'test-tube politician' who couldn't teach him anything about politics.
