Kitui East MP Nimrod Mbai has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to appoint a Kamba as a Cabinet Secretary in his government.
Mbai says that the Kamba community is not well represented in Jubilee’s government.
Speaking to journalists in Kitui town on Wednesday, Mbai said Ukambani got a raw deal in President Kenyatta’s cabinet and state corporations appointments.
“The Kamba community has been sidelined by Jubilee government and we appeal to President Kenyatta to do something an ensure our representation,” Mbai said.
Mbai said claims that Foreign Affairs CS Monica Juma represents the Kamba community in the Cabinet are false.
He said Juma is not a Kamba and that president Kenyatta was misled to believe that the CS was a Kamba.
“CS Juma’s origin is traced to Ukambani, but she is not a Kamba and as a community, we are not represented in the cabinet,” Mbai said.
The MP said President Kenyatta got many votes in Ukambani in the 2017 general election and that the region was to be awarded several cabinet positions.
“It is unfair that the Luhya community has several Cabinet slots yet they did not vote for the Jubilee government the way Kambas did,” he added.
The MP vowed to present his memorandum to the president.
A section of Kamba politicians who campaigned for president Kenyatta among them former Kibwezi MP Kalembe Ndile has been crying foul for being left out of government appointments.
