President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday toured Kisii County accompanied by Deputy President William Ruto and Opposition leader Raila Odinga.

The President launched several health projects when he visited the County Referral Hospital together with other county leaders.

Uhuru commissioned various projects at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital promising that the National and County government will work together to improve the health sector.

Among the goodies that the President brought at the facility include a new 250 capacity ward, a new CT scan, modern laboratories, doctors’ hostel and a complex for the Kisii University Medical School.

Uhuru further said that Kisii County will be the first beneficiary of one of the four cancer Centres of Excellence the National Government is planning to establish in the country.

“I have launched various health infrastructures at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital. Kisii is making strides towards the provision of quality healthcare.”

“Increase cases of cancer have become a matter of serious concern that my administration will tackle. We will take bold steps to strengthen our health systems in all counties,” he said.
