Former Balambala MP Abdikadir Aden has congratulated opposition leader Raila Odinga for landing a job with the African Union (AU) as special envoy.
Aden says that Raila’s appointment is good for Kenya and has come at the right time.
According to the former legislator, Raila’s appointment will market Kenya on the continental and even global map.
“We wish the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga all the best in his appointment as AU special envoy,” he said as quoted by a local daily on Friday.
Aden described Raila as a distinguished leader and peacemaker who is being awarded for his push in democracy and development.
The former ODM MP asked politicians to stop politicizing the appointment and allow Raila to focus on his mandate.
He termed politics around the appointment as malicious.
A section of politicians mostly from the ruling Jubilee Party want Raila to quit politics after landing the job.
The politicians say that the ODM Party leader should focus on his job and allow other people to engage in politics.
However, a section of ODM politicians say that the AU appointment does not stop Raila from taking part in politics.
Raila landed the Au job last week.
His appointment has been confirmed by AU chair Moussa Faki.
The former Prime Minister has since accepted the appointment .
