A family member of Garissa County former cec has revealed that a top city lawyer was among the individuals in an assassination list.
According to a source within Idris Muktar's family which spoke to this writer on Wednesday, police investigative records reveal that a lawyer who was to pursue Muktar's case against the governor was also to be taken down.
It has also emerged that the plot to eliminate the former finance cec and his accomplice who is a city lawyer was hatched months ago because they were in the process of launching private prosecution challenging the legitimacy of academic qualifications of governor Ali Korane.
The same source also intimated that a close cousin to the governor, who is also in the custody of the investigating police, played a crucial role in the assassination ploy.
So far, three men thought to be hired killers have been arrested and their vehicle which is reported to have been used in the mission impounded at a garage within the suburbs of the city.
The vehicle is further reported to have been repainted to hide the identity and the car's registration numbers also changed.
