Kisumu Senator Fred Outa on Friday announced that there is no bad blood between him and Governor Anyang' Nyong'o.
Speaking in Nyando, Outa noted that he is ready to work with the Governor to ensure that service is delivered to Kisumu people.
"This is the time for development. My work is to bring money and the work of the governor and his deputy is to implement the things we promised our people. That is what we want to see in the next three years.
"The people of Kisumu want development. This is why we should give Nyong’o time to work. I will ensure all the money I bring is used,” he said as quoted by Standard.
Whereas the declaration was a good gesture for Kisumu people, the move could cause chaos for the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) in 2022 should the Senator go for Governor Nyong'o's seat.
If Nyong'o decides to retain his seat, and Outa joins the race, two of the party's senior politicians will collide causing some division.
Like it has been in the past, when two heavyweights meet, their supporters are always keen to ensure that their candidate gets the bragging rights. No one goes down without a fight.
The contest between the two will also divide the county leadership with a section of politicians supporting Nyong'o while the others rally behind Outa.
Considering that Nyong'o is a close confidant of Opposition Leader Raila Odinga and a senior member of the party, Outa will make all manner of claims should the governor win.
This will create a lot of conflict and insults in the party.
