Political analyst Martin Andati now says that Deputy President William Ruto is indeed bitter with opposition leader Raila Odinga who seems to be taking over his position.
He termed this the reason behind the DP's discomfort with Raila lately, hence his many attacks and accusations against the former Prime Minister and his opposition brigade.
According to Andati, the bitterness was worsened by President Uhuru Kenyatta's recent declaration that Raila has been advising him, a remark the commentator notes has doubled Ruto's jealousy.
He added that the DP could be suffering from the fact that President Uhuru now seems to be humiliating him, by taking the opposition leader to do a job he (Ruto) should be doing.
"Uhuru kusema eti Raila amekuwa akimpa ushauri kumeuuma sana Ruto maana sasa inaonyesha yeye amewachwa na hathamini ushauri wake.
(Uhuru's revelation shows that the president nolonger cares about his opinion)," he said on Bunge La Maisha on Radio Maisha on Monday.
He noted that the DP is also worried that the Raila - Uhuru union might clip his political powers, dimming his winning chances for the 2022 presidential race with time.
He therefore likened him to a woman whose husband has taken in a second wife, and is afraid that the new wife will take over the privileges she fully enjoyed initially.
"Ruto anaona tangu Raila aingie nguvu zake zinaisha, haya ni machungu ya mke wa kwanza baada ya mke wa pili kuletwa (he has noticed that Raila's entry is weakening him as is the case when a man brings in a second wife)," he added.
Ruto has accused Raila of using his closeness to break the ruling Jubilee Party, terming him a well known party destroyer.
