Deputy President William Ruto fired salvos at ODM party leader Raila Odinga accusing him of deceiving renowned activist John Githongo.
Speaking in Githunguri, Kiambu County on Sunday at the Komothai Parish, Dr Ruto said that the veteran opposition leader had refused to adduce solid evidence in court on corruption, leaving Githongo out to dry.
"He is not DCI, he's not a lawyer. Everywhere he goes he talks about corruption. Nothing but just propaganda.. Githongo is in trouble because a court has ordered him to pay 27 million shillings.
"Somebody lied to him that he has solid evidence on the corrupt practices of somebody and asked him to announce. Now that person is nowhere to be seen, " Ruto fired.
Githongo has been asked to pay Murungaru, a veteran politician and former cabinet minister, a whopping 27 million shillings.
The former anti-corruption czar accused Murungaru of engaging in graft, charges the former minister rejected and filed a case in court against Githongo for damaging his reputation.
Dr Ruto called Raila a busy body who made claims about corruption but failed to produce evidence.
He claimed that the ODM leader had been given many chances by a court to produce evidence on corruption but never did so.
The DP's hard-hitting words mark an escalation in the war of words between him and Raila.
