Baringo Senator Gideon Moi is set to sleep under a tree in a ritual for his 2022 presidential bid.
Moi's backers, led by MP William Kamket, are behind the ritual which is practised within the Pokot community.
After spending a chilling night under an indigineous tree, the senator will be crowned a Pokot warrior, the Star reported.
Sleeping under the indigenous tree is reportedly one of the stages in a ritual conducted by the community to crown one a warrior and a leader.
After successfully doing that, Moi will then receive 'blessings and instruments of power' ahead of his stab at the presidency.
Details of the secretive ritual emerged on Tuesday when the senator, together with Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa, toured Nginyang where they donated foodstuffs.
According to MP Kamket, retired President Daniel Moi also slept under a tree in a similar ritual in 1979.
This gave him the 'magic' to hold onto power.
"You see this cold-shaded, old, indigenous tree? Your father slept here overnight in 1979,” Kamket told the senator.
