A showdown is looming between Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui and Members of County Assembly following his decision to retain and transfer a County Executive Member despite her impeachment.
According to Standard Digital, Nakuru County Accountability Forum, a civil rights group filed a petition at the County Assembly on July 20, requesting the MCAs to examine the conduct of the Governor for his action of ignoring the resolution passed by the County Assembly.
In the petition, Simon Ole Nasieku, the Forum head noted that the Governor should be interrogated for gross misconduct and abuse of office for not implementing the decision of the County Assembly and has violated the constitution which amounts to removal from office.
"It is wrong for the governor to ignore the decision of the county assembly and try to defeat justice by transferring Eng Kariuki to another department. He is setting a very bad example across all the 47 counties," said Steve Gatukia, a member of the Forum as quoted by the Standard.
On July 16, the county assembly overwhelmingly voted for roads CeC Lucy Kariuki's removal from office for alleged abuse of office but interestingly a day before, Governor Kinyanjui had transferred her to the department of Gender, Youth and Sports though that did not stop her dismissal.
