Lawyer Donald Kipkorir has slammed Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) legislators for pressing President Uhuru Kenyatta to name his successor.
In a tweet on Monday evening, the lawyer noted that the legislators should focus on service delivery, and shun 2022 politics.
"ODM politicians should stop being over-excited like primary school kids at lunch hour when they’re in same rally with Uhuru Kenyatta. Uhuru has said we focus on now and not 2022. Why do you want him to endorse Baba Raila Odinga now? What’s good for the goose is good for the gander," he said.
Succession politics is the main debate in the country despite the president cautioning against the same.
On Friday, a section of ODM legislators urged the president to be careful when naming his successor so that his legacy is not tainted.
Led by Senator James Orengo and ODM Chairman John Mbadi, the leaders argued that the debate on Uhuru's successor cannot be ignored.
"I want you, Mr President, to think about the legacy you wish to leave behind with regard to who takes over as your successor. [You must ensure] he carries on with efforts against corruption instead of reversing them. Pray with me so that you do not leave us someone who is a thief," He said as quoted by Nation.
