President Uhuru Kenyatta has persistent discouraged early campaigns with State House putting more emphasis on Big Four agenda.

"We are not in a campaign mood. Let us first work for the electorates. Elections are several years from now," he had said.

Despite the warning from Uhuru, Ruto has been traversing the country in pretext of development even after Uhuru froze all new projects.

And through his allies, Ruto seems to be focused on 2022 arguing that the meetings conducted by him also advocate for development.

“We usually discuss many issues regarding the region and the Big Four agenda and not personalities,”  said Nandi senator Samson Cherargei.

He added: " We shall continue holding these meetings to make Ruto's candidature strong."

The MPs, under Rift Valley Parliamentary Caucus, insisted that the lifestyle audit and fight against graft must be done in good faith.

Before Wednesday's meeting, some of Ruto's allies has linked fight against graft as a wider plot to sabotage Ruto's 2022 bid.

“We are in full support of the President’s lifestyle audit and the fight against corruption but it should be in good faith and not targeting any individual,” he said.

Later on this month, the DP is set for a mega meeting with Rift Valley leaders at his Sugoi home where politics are set to dominate.

A source privy to the meeting told the reporter that the leaders would take a common stand on alleged mistreatment of Ruto within Jubilee.

"They will now come out open and will fight for Ruto in daylight."
