A family in Chepkorio farm, Uasin Gishu has suffered a blow after property worth more than Sh200,000 was reduced to ashes.
A granary with over 300 bales of hay was destroyed on Monday.
According to Charles Tunene, a brother to the victim, the fire is believed to have started at 12:30 pm and lasted for more than three hours before it could be put off by fire brigades from the county government.
“The fire seemed to have been started by a spark from a chaff cutter which was being used to cut animal feed and with the current dry spell, it spread easily losing property worth more than Sh200,000,” said Tunen.
“The family has suffered a big loss putting into consideration that dry spell has commenced and rains are expected late March making it hard getting animal feeds,” he added.
