Kenyan tribes have got diverse customs and practice most of which are followed up to date.
Every tribe is against suicide and the Luo community loathes the act.
In the olden days suicide victims were harshly treated back in the days though dead.
If they could wake up and witness the treatment they were given they wouldn't repeat their mistakes.
If a person committed suicide, there would be no mourning, his body would be thoroughly whipped in public before it was even brought down from the noose.
The corpse was canned in a bid to stop his/her spirit from coming back to the home and prompt others to take their lives.
Also, no child was named after such people so that children do not take after them.
And as if that's not enough the corpse is buried at night outside the homestead at a place known as 'Gunda' set aside for such outcasts.
No one was allowed to mourn such people lest he gets tormented by spirits.
However, the practice is rarely practiced nowadays, all thanks to civilization.
