In a statement released to media houses, Kibwana said the former Vice President is more focused on his 2022 presidential dream than improving the locals' living standards.

Kibwana, his counterparts Alfred Mutua (Machakos) and Kitui’s Charity Ngilu now want to meet President Uhuru Kenyatta in order to discuss matters of developing the region before the conclusion of his second term in office.

The differences between Kalonzo and Kibwana have escalated weeks after the latter said he cannot be forced to back the Wiper leader for Presidency in the next general elections.

Kibwana said the region has continued to lag behind in matters of development because the leaders in the past regimes were not committed to fighting for their rights in the government.

"This is why this time around we as the three governors of Ukambani Charity Ngilu (Kitui), Alfred Mutua (Machakos) and myself wish, if possible, to also discuss development matters with the highest office of the land. We do not mind seeking development for our people as Mr. Musyoka targets his 2022 presidential ambition,” Kibwana's statement reads in part.
