Ex-Kakamega Senator Bonnie Khalwale renewed his verbal attacks of COTU General Francis Atwoli, questioning his commitment towards supporting Luhya leadership at the national level.
At Ikolomani on Sunday, Atwoli had rallied behind former Vice President Musalia Mudavadi, accusing leaders reading from a different script of being broke and 'chasing for handouts' from other national leaders.
But Khalwale, a seasoned politician, accused Atwoli of undermining Western Kenya leaders, who do not support Mudavadi's bid for Presidency in 2022, adding that such approach was primitive.
"Atwoli, who dare you call us stupid? It's strange that you can undermine people like me, a doctor of medicine whereas we don't know your real profession," Khalwale rebuked Atwoli.
He added: "If you really have the millions or the billions, why did you fail to contribute to Mudavadi's 2013 campaigns? Why do you tell us to support him here but when you're at Nairobi, you want the constitution to be changed to favour Uhuru and Raila? You're useless."
While Dr Khalwale supports Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 Presidential bid, Atwoli has often maintained that Mudavadi is the Luhya kingpin and should be allowed to negotiate on behalf of the whole community in national leadership.
Also, Atwoli has vowed to oppose Ruto's presidency, insisting that he cannot be trusted. He has also called for constitutional changes to expand the executive, adding that such move would reduce cut throat competition in presidential elections.
The two leaders were attending a funeral to Mr Lumwaji, a former personal assistant to Moses Mudavadi, a father to Musalia Mudavadi. Khalwale maintains that Luhyas ought to support another community for them to ascend to power.
