The sitting culminated into a shouting contest, as the majority members opposed to the increment shouted off the other side led by majority leaders from both sides.

Minority Leader and Suba parliamentarian John Mbadi found himself on the receiving end from his fellow opposition lawmakers after he pledged support for the proposal.

In retaliation, Mbadi told off the MPs jeering and shouting at him for his stand on the same, faulting them for resorting to uncivilised behaviour to make their point.

"You will not get anything through shouting. Its only through engaging in a debate when we will agree," said Mbadi, amid shouts from lawmakers who demanded that the tax should be retained at zero per cent.

The situation further worsened after the members began chanting anti-Mbadi slogans, demanding that he be unseated from the parliamentary leadership slot.

"Mbadi must go! Mbadi must go!" charged the agitated leaders.

The opposition's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) National Chair was later sent off the house.

He again encountered the same when he came back, with the opposed lawmakers accusing him of betraying them and Kenyans.
