Nightclubs in Kisii town have been experiencing low sales as the school reopening dates approach.
A spot check at clubs in Kisii on Friday night revealed that most revellers especially men who visit bars to drink beer are now choosing to stay indoors.
Embonga bar and restaurant attendant Simon Oswago said the club has been receiving few customers since Monday.
"Business has gone down because the number of customers we are receiving has drastically reduced. Most of our clients are men who have embarked on saving money to pay school fees for their children,” he said.
Mr Oswago said since Monday they have been receiving as low as 10-20 customers compared to the over 200 customers who have been thronging the bar after the schools closed for August holiday.
On his part, Star Lounge manager Samson Okeiga said it was a common phenomenon for the number of customers to go down as the school reopening dates approach.
"The customers coming to drink at the club are few because most of our clients are men who are now busy looking for school fees to pay for their children. We must accept the situation and move on,” he said.
Public primary and secondary schools are expected to reopen starting next week Monday.
