Mr George Mosiori, an anti-corruption crusader in the county assembly of Nyamira, said the appointment with the president would allow him to formally bid for former Minister and North Mugirango MP Joseph Kiangoi.

At a function in Bomwagamo, Mr Mosiori, a former Kisii University president, said Kiangoi's appointment would see more youths from Gusii region joining government.

"As a youth leader, I am seeking audience with President Uhuru Kenyatta in State House. We worked closely with Mr Kiangoi and he deserves an appointment to government," he said.

"Once Kiangoi is recruited, I am sure he will bring in youthful secretaries and clerks to the office. He did a good job for Jubilee and the president should never forget such efforts," he added.

Kiangoi lost to Geoffrey Masanya of Ford People in 2002. However, in 2013, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga appointed him to EALA where he served until 2017.

In unexpected move, he joined Jubilee party and unsuccessfully contested for Nyamira senatorial seat, emerging third after Okong'o Mogeni and Nyambega Mose respectively.

But despite President Uhuru Kenyatta promising to have Al his campaigners from Gusii region awarded government jobs. Most of those from Nyamira are yet to be absorbed.
