The MPs Joshua Kutuny, Silas Tiren and Alfred Keter had claimed that DP Ruto knows what transpired in the maize scandal and called for his investigations.

However addressing the press in Eldoret on Monday, the professionals led by the Secretary Phillip Chebunet termed the MPs' utterances and claims as callous, reckless and disrespectful.

“We wish to distance ourselves from the reckless and irresponsible statements made by the said Members of Parliament during farmers meeting. We want the three to apologize publicly,” said Chebunet.

He noted that it was dismaying to note that the three MPs had resorted to using the farmer's woes to seek political mileage in the wake of their dwindling political influence.

“Instead of playing to the public gallery, the three MPs ought to raise their concerns with relevant parliamentary channels and enact legislation that will cushion farmers from perennial woes,” added the professionals' secretary.

The professionals further challenged the trio to support ongoing investigations into the maize scandal by presenting to relevant government agencies evidence in which they used to link DP Ruto to the corruption that had rocked the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB).
