On Saturday, calls to have Ruto quit the 2022 race persisted with Uhuru's close ally David Murathe threatening to move to Supreme Court to seek advisory opinion on 148 (5).

"He has served two terms. He's the principal assistant of the president. He should not run in the next election. I will move to Supreme Court to seek advisory opinion," he said.

Similar calls have been made by several leaders among the COTU boss Francis Atwoli, who termed Ruto as a 'hater who cannot get to State House'.

But Mr David Mokaya, a senior advisor of the DP, has protested treatment accorded to Dr Ruto, saying it's a wider scheme to force him out of office.

"They started with lifestyle audit, then they called him demeaning words such as Tanga Tanga the DP remained steady. They started a movement to change the constitution and now they want to move to Supreme Court.

"All these are happening because the DP is unstoppable. They just want to force him out of office but as his advisers, we remain steady because we shall overcome," he said.

Mr Mokaya has been a key pillar in Jubilee campaigns and is credited for rallying for the Jubilee duo in Nyamira and Kisii Counties in 2017 polls.

He is set to run for Nyamira Senatorial race in 2022 and insists the strategy they have set will propel Ruto to State House.
