There are different opinions about who should sleep longer between men and women. Studies have proven that women need to sleep for a longer duration compared to men because of different reasons.
According to Centers for Disease Control, millions of men and women in the United States of America suffers from sleep deprivation because they do not know how to go about the same.Dr. Victoria Sharma, a California physician affiliated with Sharp Grossmont Hospital argues that women should sleep longer than men. He opines that women need to sleep for around 7-8 hours daily if they do not want to suffer from issues to do with deprivation of sleep over time.
The duration can, however, vary from one person to another depending on the activities one is involved in at various levels. Research has also proven that hormones play an important role as far as determination of how long a man should sleep is concerned. Menstrual cycles over make it hard for women to sleep at times.
Researchers also argue that pregnancy tends to aggravate the sleeping cycles among women of different ages. In other words, women who are expectant tend to sleep for longer hours compared to those who are not expecting children any soon. The changes in the levels of hormones makes their bodies to respond accordingly at the end of the day.
