The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has begun a search for a new Managing Director after the unprecedented departure of Johnny Anderson.

On Monday, Mr. Anderson commenced his leave of office. The company has now replaced him with Alex Gitaru as their interim Managing Director.

Mr Gitaru is KAA's Finance General Manager.

According to KAA’s board Chairman Isaac Awoudo, they have began a search for a suitable candidate to replace Mr. Anderson.

“On October 1, the recruitment process of Managing Director- KAA through a competitive process will commence,” read the memo in part as quoted by Citizen Digital.

In August 30, 2019, Mr. Anderson announced his plans to end his contract with KAA.

His contract will expire on November 21, 2019. He had a chance to renew it for another three years but turned down the offer.

Anderson wrote a farewell letter to staff at KAA. He wished the organization all the best.

“It has not been easy; we have had our difficulties, unforeseen challenges as well as major milestones, which we have celebrated together. I leave the organization with a bright future,” he said as quoted by Citizen Digital.

He came into the organization in November 2016 from Norwegian airports operator- Avinor AS.
