Residents of Siara village in Bogeka ward, Kisii County are mourning the death of a man who was crushed to death by his bull on Sunday evening.
The deceased Ouru Momanyi met his death when he went to bring his bull back home from the grazing field where he had tied.
Christopher Moikoyo, the deceased nephew said Ouru was alone when the bull turned against him.
"The bull turned against him and crushed him to death with its sharp horns," he said.
Moikoyo said he heard the deceased screaming for help and when he rushed to the scene he found the bull crushing him.
"The bull didn't allow me to come closer so I called on the members of the public who arrived and helped me drive the bull away. My uncle sustained injuries on his head and stomach. He was taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival," he said.
Area chief, Joshua Maangu confirmed the incident and said the deceased was a dedicated local peasant.
"I have known Ouru for the past 10 years. He was a committed person who loved rearing livestock and doing his farming. It is sad that his bull crushed him to death," he said.
