Fafi Member of Parliament Abdikarim Osman has condemned the latest Al-Shabaab attack in Yumbis area that occurred on Friday night.
In a Facebook post, Abdikarim condemned the incident that saw a Safaricom communication mast brought down by the assailants putting the locals out of touch with the world.
"I condemn the terror attack on Yumbis centre last night by Al Shabaab militia who destroyed a communication mast and other infrastructure," the MP wrote in part.
He further called on the government to beef up security in the area, where he rooted for the deployment of additional security officers to protect the locals living in the volatile Northern region.
"It would be prudent if those in charge of the security of Kenyans to consider deploying more personnel to the terror prone areas to thwart the vicious attacks in Northern Kenya," Abdikarim noted.
The vocal legislator's statement follows the Friday's Al-Shabaab attack in Yumbis police post in Fafi sub-sub-county of Garissa. In the incident, at least three of the militants were gunned down by Kenyan security officers after a fierce gun battle.
The incident happened barely a week after another attack claimed by the Somalia terror cell in Wajir where at least eight Administration Police officers lost their lives.
