Estranged Migori Governor Okoth Obado is in 'low spirits' and could be undergoing through depression at Industrial Area prison, a source has claimed.
For almost one month, Obado has been a guest of the state over the allegations of killing his girlfriend Sharon Otieno, who was seven months pregnant.
And at prison, the source said, Mr. Obado isolates himself from other inmates and has worried the warders due to persistent habit of talking to himself.
"I am told he nowdays talks to himself. He is heard lamenting all the time. He seems to be in depression.
"At times, he cries loudly. The same thing happens when his family visits. He never goes for food but only fellow inmates who does," said the source, who spoke in confidence bacause he's not authorized to speak on behalf of the family.
In the prison, he adds, Obado is lately allowed to take special meal following his hospitalisation over stomachache a fortnight ago.
Also, he adds, Mr. Obado reads the Bible and sings while in his cube and at times attends Sunday service.
Mr. Obado will know his bail application fate on October 24 when Justice Jessie Lessit returns to court over the same.
Defense team led by retired Judge Nicholus Ombija insisted that the prosecution doesn't have compelling reasons to continue holding Mr. Obado.
"He is not directly mentioned in the murder and the prosecution is even struggling to link him. He has people who elected him that require his services," he argued.
